Ridin' Around

Pretty nice babysitter...huh?? This is Donkey, they both have decided that they LOVE this horse! It has been awhile since we have pulled Donkey out and this is the first time that we have let the boys have full reign on what they wanted to do with her. Ashton learned how to saddle her up and go for a ride. It started out with Ashton pulling Branson, and then Branson was sure he could lead Ashton around, and sure enough it worked! Donkey had a busy 2 days with these two boys! She definetely got a much needed workout!

And here is Ashton going for a spin on his horse Copenhagen. He has only rode him in an arena, so he was a little nervous riding out every where, BUT, he did great! This is after we worked Copenhagen pretty good, so he was wore out and just wanted to walk slowly around, perfect ride for Ash!

Yes, Wobby can Ride and Rope too!

Pretty Good....EH??

Taking up the Family Business

We have 2 natural born horse lovers. Donkey is so perfect for the boys to have right now. She will let them ride, shoe, brush, pull around, feed, etc. all they want to her. Ashton thinks it is pretty fun to shoe her, especially at the same time his dad is shoeing the bigger ones. This is what they did for 2 days straight, poor donkey needs a rest from these 2 boys!

Goodbye Missy

We had to say goodbye to Missy on Thursday. Brian has way too many horses right now, so he had to decide which 2 he could sell. Sadly to say, Missy was one of them. He has owned Missy longer than has owned me :) haha. So this sell was a hard one for him. He has actually sold her twice already now, in the last year, but at the last minute backed out and couldn't get rid of her. BUT this time, he decided she really needed to go to someone that would ride her a lot more than he is able to. We put her on KSL and 2 days later had her sold. She is going to a ranch in Kanab, where they push cattle and ride all day long, so she is going to a great home! Lots of pasture and warm weather. We are so happy that she is going to be well taken care of for a long time! It was also hard for Branson to say goodbye, Missy was Branson most favorite horse, he loved riding her with his daddy, we tried tricking him and telling him our other horse was Missy, BUT he is too smart and said 'no it isn't'. He actually watched her go, and was pretty sad, BUT now he has decided donkey is going to be his new favorite, so he is happy about that! Good thing he is still easily bribed! What a great horse she has been for Brian, we are going to miss her!

Brian's play time

Since Brian cleaned up our yard so well, I told him I would pull the hot heels for him. It has been awhile since we have had a place to rope this, so it felt good to get it out and use it.

Brian loved every minute of it and did really good!
And here is what the boys did while Brian roped, hung out and munched.

Looks like we are going to have a summer full of the hot heels!

Lovin the weather!

We had such beautiful weather on Saturday, we decided to play! We stayed outside ALL day long. The kids loved being out there!
Branson has always loved horses. He stayed here most of the day. He was feeding them, talking to them, and he was so excited that they let him 'pet' them.

We put all our snacks and drinks in the wagon, and Brans decided to drag it around wherever we were. He is such a good helper!

Ashton was on the tractor with Brian for a lot of the time, but then decided to go '4 wheelin' around while dad worked. With all of the mud we had around, Brian got stuck quite a few times and made some big divits all around. So I wanted him to clean it all up and smooth it all out, he did it for me! Looks so good now!

Yay for spring weather, and no more mud!!

Sunday Drive

My favorite thing to do is go 'exploring' around our town. We are new here, so everything is so neat to go look at and see what is around. With Brian driving quit a bit from Ogden to Malad 4 days a week, he gets to see all of these deer that hang out on the side of I15, SO we decided to go see them off of the frontage road that runs to the side of the freeway. On our way, we had to drive through a little ranch/farm, and came across all these deer. They have a lot of hay up there for their cows, and had to build a 10 ft fence around the hay to keep the deer out, BUT the deer still manage to get in, there is about a foot gap under the gates to get into the hay, and Brian seen a whole bunch of deer going in and out of that gap. He was pretty shocked that they could duck down that far! We scared all these deer away, but many stayed in the fenced area and several took off the other way. SO MANY DEER! All of the bucks have shed by now, we were hoping to see some 'big racks' but have to wait awhile now.

The boys loved looking out of the binoculars!

Bowling Fun

We celebrated Zach's birthday yesterday by going bowling. The kids had so much fun! They are all so big, that they did it all by themselves, we just sat back and watched. They almost made it through 2 games, half way through the 2nd game, it got kind of boring to most of them, everyone except Ashton, he wanted to bowl for everyone at the end.

Weekend Fun

We had Brandon and Stacey up for the weekend to see the house and hang out with us. Their little boy is so cute, his name is Rusty Rope, and from the pictures, you can see he is already a natural with ropes! He was talking to us all weekend with his cute baby 'oos and aahs'.

Brandon brought his Wii for the boys to play with, and boy did they have so much fun with it. They are boxing in the picture below. I think we might have to get us one of these, I think we are the only ones out there that don't have one!
Thanks for coming guys, we had so much fun with you!!

Chores

With all the mud that we have around our place, we have been buying lots of straw for the horses/cows to bed in. Saturday was SO nice, that the kids were able to go out and help dad 'chore'. Ashton said 'Dad, I am so glad I can help you chore now, I love helping you out!' It was so fun to hear him say that to Brian. Brian laughed and said 'ya, I am excited when you can start feeding for me' and Ash loved that even more. Little does he know, he will be regretting saying that! Branson loved to play in the straw too!

Branson checking out the new horse trailer, and helping me 'put it together'. I LOVE organizing! And Brian loves that I love it too (so he doesn't have to do it)!

New Trailer

Brian couldn't handle not having a horse trailer for too long, he missed a roping because we didn't have one, so he was determined to find one fast. He has been on the internet CONSTANTLY searching for a good find, which did pay off, we found this trailer, which was very affordable for our budget. He is so happy to have this new trailer, and even more happier that he can still sleep in it (if he had too) with it being a gooseneck, it has the room up top to make a bed up there. Now no more excuses for missing ropings (I heard about it all weekend:)!
